24 teams on a single table would be a nightmare of a schedule.... they would either need to play two games a week, or just split MLS into two leagues with pro/rel between them.
Which would actually be pretty sweet: -Top League ----16 teams ----play everyone else twice ----top eight go to playoffs ----bottom eight pair up to play four home-and-away series, losers relegated -Bottom League ----8 teams ----play everyone else four times ----top four promoted

I love your idea. I'd go with it except its going to be really hard to implement relegations. First every team needs a stadium. You can't have some promoted teams play in Div 1 with a college field of about 10k people. Perhaps it could work in 20 years at least?

Portland has the best soccer fans in the country. Our USL side outdraws the likes of KC and Chivas USA. If a team is put here it sets up an instant classic derby with PDX vs Sounders. I really think that it is a no brainer. The second two strongest candidates are Vancouver and STL. Miami, with Barca help or not will not have a supportive fan base, which is exactly what MLS should be looking for wherever it chooses to expand.

Portland is a great candidate city. A match between portland and seattle would be awesome to watch. but imo i think one more canadian team will be added...which means it will most likely be Vancouver. You are right with barca mlsinpdx, they'll have major influence with getting that expansion team in miami.

Miami is out? I was sure that they would be picked lol. So much for that....not that i favored miami or anything.
St. Louis is still in it, maybe there is a chance after all, since garber is going to add 2 teams anyways.

Yeah; we've survived the death race so far, we might make it to the finish line.... Question is if we're one of the first two there or not. The way I see it, Vancouver is in already, and if Portland passes their stadium proposal, then they're #2. Next would be STL, with Ottawa on the bottom of the totem pole.

MLS is at 18 and will need two more to reach 20 after 2112. My guess is St. Louis and Montreal for the next two they seem to be the frontrunners. They maybe be pushed by group from Queens NY

The Gateway City Supporters Club (GCSC) has renamed themsleves The Eads Brigade. They are the self acclaimed "First and Finest MLS Supporters Club". ( www.eadsbrigade.org/). They are so confident that they are going get a team in the next round of expansion that they are already creating a scarf. BTW: local sports hero Albert Pujols has jumped on the St. Louis Soccer United bandwagon.

Montreal has likely jumped much higher on the list of possible Major League Soccer expansion teams with George Gillett, owner of the National Hockey League's Montreal Canadiens, and his Gillett Entertainment Group expressing interest in becoming part of a Montreal MLS ownership group www.soccertimes.com/mls/2008/mar27
