U.S. Soccer announced today that it had agreed to a four-year contract extension with Bob Bradley, the coach of the men’s national team, that will keep him at the helm through the 2014 World Cup. Bradley, the subject of much discussion on this blog and in the pages of The Times, led the Americans to the second round of the World Cup this summer in South Africa. But while he did exactly what he was hired to do, he also regularly faced criticism for everything from his no-nonsense manner to his player selection to his in-game decision-making. There was also a considerable push in some quarters — as recently as last week, according to some reports — for U.S. Soccer to let Bradley go and bring in a foreign coach to move the team forward goal.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/08/30/u-s-soccer-gives-bradley-four-year-extension/
