David Beckham's England career could be over after a torn Achilles tendon ruled him out of this summer's World Cup. GettyImages David Beckham has torn his Achilles tendonBeckham sustained the injury without coming into contact with anyone else, limping to the sidelines for treatment in the dying moments of AC Milan's 1-0 victory over Chievo before leaving the San Siro on crutches. I'm gutted! I was watching the game, Becks first full 90 minutes for weeks, and he was making a good case for himself - even surviving a scything tackle and a kick in the face during the first half. Nobody realised what had happened 'til you saw him calling to the bench and then collapsing in a heap...gutting, absolutely gutting... It's a personal disaster more than a disaster for the England squad though. The rumors are that David has been invited to join the England staff for the World Cup by Fabio Capello - he has already turned down the major UK TV companies saying he would rather watch it at home than commentate. I think you'll be seeing him in the MLS in six months, and Capello has already said he is considering him for the 2012 European qualifiers! Becks and Owen - what a pair of crocks! Oh what could have been...

I wouldn't see Beckham's injury as affecting England THAT much!! although if Rooney's injury becomes a real problem - it is more or less all over for us....
