The road to get the chance to play in the World Cup had been rough for the US as it loses its first three road qualifiers this year and even ha a bad first half in the game before Clark made his winning goal. The US could get their berth to play in next year's Soccer World Cup 2010 if they can defeat Honduras on October 10 or if they lose get if they win against the Costa Rica soccer team four days later at home in Washington, D.C.. Based on the rules of the World Cup qualifying tournament the top three teams qualify for the World Cup and the No. 4 nation goes to a playoff against the fifth-place team in South America. The 2010 FIFA World Cup will be the 19th FIFA World Cup, an international tournament for football that is scheduled to take place between 11 June and 11 July 2010 in South Africa. It will be the first time that the tournament has been hosted by an African nation. Italy is the defending champions, although they do not automatically qualify for the final tournament.
