New York City FC secure training facility in Manhattanville College Following the announcement of a temporary home in Yankee Stadium, New York City FC have reached another significant milestone: the acquisition of a training ground. The club filed a petition with the Purchase Environmental Protection Agency (PEPA) this past February to renovate and use land on the Manhattanville College campus as the temporary home of their training grounds. Those plans were approved Tuesday by the Harrison Planning Board by a 4-2 margin, giving NYC FC a concrete deal for five years, with two renewal options at one or two years. “We are excited about the prospect of partnering with the community in Harrison … and Manhattanville College,” Chief Business Officer Tim Pernetti said in a statement prior to the vote. “From the beginning of this process, we have been solely focused on creating a relationship that is beneficial for the community, Manhattanville College and NYCFC.” The $10 million plan will include renovation of the existing fields, the college gymnasium and the addition of another field where a tennis court currently stands. NYC FC will also seize control of 35 existing parking spots for their operations. Within their bid packet, the team specifies usage not only for training, but for possible academy activity and “occasional exhibition matches” as well. www.empireofsoccer.com/training-facility-manhattanville-25192/
