Bronx soccer stadium deal near Yankee Stadium offers big incentives to Arab firm Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio will have 30 days after inauguration to ink a deal that would allow a stadium for the New York City Football Club to be built on city land — that would be rent-free for decades. NYC FC STADIUM SITUATION Garber: Club to announce permanent home probably 'shortly'PHILADELPHIA -- Major League Soccer commissioner Don Garber said Thursday that NYC FC probably will announce a permanent home "shortly." During a break between the first and second rounds of the MLS SuperDraft at the Philadelphia Convention Center, Garber said the expansion, which will begin play in 2015, there was no delay in the team making a decision on a permanent home. "There's not a delay," he said. "I think shortly they probably will announce a place. They're just finalizing all their details. They've got some time. They've got to get a great spot." NYC FC had targeted a place just south of Yankee Stadium in the Bronx as a possible home to a $400 million, 28,000-seat soccer specific stadium, but club CEO Ferran Soriano said there were several possibilities within the five boroughs. www.bigapplesoccer.com/teams/nycfc2.php?article_id=36179
