Colorado Rapids sign Panamanian forward Gabriel Torres as Designated PlayerThe wait is over. Gabriel Torres is a Colorado Rapid. After a drawn-out and rumor-laden pursuit, the Rapids officially signed the 24-year-old Panamanian striker on Thursday evening, hours before the closure of MLS’ international transfer window. Torres arrives as the first Designated Player in franchise history. Torres will be eligible to join the Rapids pending receipt of his P-1 visa. His Designated Player status comes from a combination of his salary and acquisition costs, the team explained, and he will occupy an International spot on Colorado's roster. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/08/colorado-rapids-sign-panamanian-forward-gabriel-torres-designated-player
