Sketches of NYCFC’s stadium leaked New York City FC is set to begin play in the 2015 MLS season, and it looks like their home games will be played in one of the coolest venues in all of soccer. Sketches of the new stadium have leaked on the internet, and they have probably put their future rivals to shame. Located on Pier 40, the open ended stadium would offer a view of the lower Manhattan skyline, including the One World Trade Center building. How cool is that? NYC FC, the joint venture of Manchester City and the New York Yankees, are certainly off to a good start in competing with the two other local teams, the Red Bulls and the Cosmos, for the city’s attention. There is however, just one little drawback: the stadium would only hold around 25,000 people, and we’re guessing tickets won’t come cheap. But hey, if there’s one thing the city loves, it’s exclusivity right? blog.foxsoccer.com/post/57516451479/rest-of-mls-now-jealous-after-sketches-of-nyc-fcs

New York City FC stadium announcement expected within a month NEW YORK – New York City FC will soon have a place to call home. Claudio Reyna, the former US national team star and NYCFC's director of football, told a handful of reporters at the club’s official badge unveiling on Thursday night that an announcement for the temporary stadium is looming. It has been widely speculated that Yankee Stadium will host NYCFC when the MLS expansion franchise’s inaugural season gets underway in 2015, but Reyna did not confirm or deny that rumor during the ceremony. Instead, he kept things simple by saying that a decision on the venue would be publicly made in the coming weeks. www.reddit.com/tb/20zxup

New York City F.C. to Play at Yankee Stadium for Three Years New York City F.C., a team that will enter Major League Soccer next year, will play its first three seasons at Yankee Stadium, according to two people familiar with the team’s plans. The team, which is jointly owned by the Yankees and Manchester City of the Premier League, is expected to make the announcement next week. The Yankee Stadium solution is a temporary reprieve; the team must find a site for a permanent home and construct it, and the three-year commitment at Yankee Stadium could be a hint at how difficult that might be. www.nytimes.com/2014/04/15/sports/soccer/new-york-city-fc-to-play-at-yankee-stadium-for-three-years.html?ref=sports&_r=2

New York City FC outline plans for Yankee Stadium's baseball-to-soccer conversionPer a release, NYCFC's 2015 home schedule will not have an impact on the schedule of the stadium's primary tenants, Major League Baseball's New York Yankees. "By hosting the New York City FC for its inaugural season, Yankee Stadium will be hosting a very special chapter in sports history,” Yankees president Randy Levine said in a statement. “The Yankees are pleased to welcome New York City FC, all of its players and its fans, to our home, and believe the team’s dynamic presence in 2015 will make the stadium the most vibrant venue in the world.” According to Yankees chief operation officer Lonn A. Trost, the stadium will be downsized from its current capacity of 49,642 seats to 33,444 seats for MLS matches. The field will be 110 yards by 70 yards. Conversion of the stadium from baseball to soccer, and vice versa, takes three days. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/04/21/new-york-city-fc-announce-yankee-stadium-be-home-field-2015-seasonnycfc.com/Tickets

NYC FC Details How It Will Co-Exist With Yankees NYC FC yesterday confirmed that it will play its inaugural MLS season in ’15 at Yankee Stadium, a move that solidifies the team's short-term future and allows season-ticket sales to begin. The club will play all 17 home games in the ballpark, which will have a reduced capacity from 49,642 for baseball to 33,444 for soccer. The pitcher’s mound will be removed prior to each NYC FC match. It will take three days to completely reconfigure the park from baseball-ready to soccer-ready. www.reddit.com/tb/23ov05
