American Exports: Edgar Castillo & Paul Arriola feature in Xolos drawGUADALAJARA, Mexico – Club Tijuana drew 1-1 against Santos Laguna on Friday, with US international Edgar Castillo playing the full 90 minutes at left back in the Liga MX. Castillo – playing against the club at which he first came to the fore – was heavily involved down the left flank in a tight affair, with Los Guerreros equalizing late in the 89th minute through Jesús Escoboza. The New Mexico native came close to scoring in the 82nd when he drove forward from midfield and struck a swerving left foot effort just wide of the post. Paul Arriola came on at halftime on the right wing – with the score at 0-0 - and almost made an immediate impact, bringing the ball down and hitting a volley from inside the penalty box, which ‘keeper Oswaldo Sánchez tipped over the bar. The 18-year-old had another half-chance in the 62nd when his shot deflected off a defender and into the arms of Sánchez. Joe Corona and Greg Garza were left on the bench as Xolos moved to eight points from their first six games of the Apertura championship. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/24/american-exports-edgar-castillo-paul-arriola-feature-xolos-draw

American Exports: Roma reject $9m Sunderland offer for Michael BradleyAMSTERDAM – Sunderland have had an offer of approximately €7 million ($9.3 million) for midfielder Michael Bradley knocked back by AS Roma, MLSsoccer.com confirmed on Saturday. Italian reports orginally suggested that the Giallorossi told the Black Cats they would not accept less than €10 million for the US national team's bald eagle, but a source close to the situation told MLSsoccer.com that the price tag quoted was actually €12 million (just over $16 million). Sunderland boss Paulo Di Canio has already welcomed 11 new signings at the Stadium of Light during the current transfer window, including US strike star Jozy Altidore. They were the second Premier League club to table a failed bid for Bradley this summer, following Everton. Meanwhile, Bradley -- nicknamed "Il Generale" by the fans in Roma -- will lead Roma into the new Serie A campaign on Sunday with a trip to newly promoted Livorno. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/24/american-exports-roma-reject-9m-sunderland-offer-michael-bradley

American Exports: Who are the next young Yanks to break through in Europe? Before the season, MLSsoccer.com reported that West Ham United playmaker Sebastian Lleget was the closest to reaching his club's first team. He's only gotten closer to a breakthrough since then. Lletget (above), who turned 21 last week, dressed but did not appear for the Hammers in a late August Capital One Cup win. It seems reasonable to hope he can make a senior debut when they host Cardiff City in the next round on Sept. 24. When last we reported on the Bayern Munich II wing prodigy Julian Green, he was off to a very warm start. Now, with 10 goals and three assists in 10 games for the reserves, he is positively scorching. The 18-year-old Tampa native hit his first hat trick at Schweinfurt last week, giving him five goals and an assist in his last two games. Playing in an attack position adds to the distance he must travel for a debut with the European treble holders, but Green is certainly making a chase of it with roadrunner's pace. And let's not forget that Bayern boss Pep Guardiola loves a Pedro Rodríguez type on the wing. Birmingham City defensive handyman Will Packwood (at right), who broke his leg in two places against Leeds United in January, is on the verge of returning to manager Lee Clark's selection. Last week, he worked a total of 105 minutes in two reserve matches five days apart. "He did so well on Monday at Barnsley, I went up to watch that game to specifically see how he got on," Clark told the club website. "He was desperate to stay on for longer. We had to drag him off. Then he played at Forest. o the north in Liverpool, Marc Pelosi is still waiting to train with a ball, but the club is hopeful he will be back by the end of the year. The 19-year-old left-sider – who suffered a broken leg in February, just as he'd made the Reds' registered Europa League roster – is progressing well ahead of the original recovery schedule. "We would hope that he would back before Christmas," Liverpool academy director Frank McParland recently told Goal.com. "He is champing at the bit and I don’t think it’ll be too long before he’s training with the squad. He’s actually already weight-bearing and running, so he’s certainly on the way back." Germany has certainly proven itself as a prime breeding ground for American players, and several more are currently on the Bundesliga path. One who has entrenched himself in the reserve-team lineup is Freiburg's Caleb Stanko. Over in the Regionalliga West, Mario Rodriguez is consistently getting minutes for Borussia Mönchengladbach II. The 19-year-old forward made his first start in a scoreless draw at Wiedenbrück last month. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/09/12/american-exports-who-are-next-young-yanks-break-through-europe

24 Under 24: Ranking the top five young American Exports across the pondAMSTERDAM – The time has come once again to unveil the best 24 players younger than age 24 in Major League Soccer, which means our European desk is also back with another ranking of the top five Americans stationed overseas. Making the list became tougher this year, what with the addition of two young dual-citizenship talents to the US national team rotation, Hertha Berlin defender John Anthony Brooks and AZ Alkmaar forward Aron Jóhannsson. To boot, injury woes (Will Packwood, last year's No. 2 Josh Gatt) and form struggles (Timothy Chandler) have conspired to keep prime candidates just outside our list. Another name among the honorable mentions for this edition is Stoke City winger Brek Shea, who topped the MLS 24 Under 24 rankings back in 2011. www.mlssoccer.com/24under24/news/article/2013/09/19/ranking-top-five-young-american-exports-across-pond

24 Under 24: Ranking the top five young American prospects south of the border[/size] GUADALAJARA, Mexico – There’s no point trying to cover it up. Over the last year, there hasn’t been the expected number of Americans down south jumping from youth systems to first teams. Many of the players who have been on the brink and in or around the US national team youth setup recently – Benji Joya, Daniel Cuevas, Stevie Rodriguez, Alejandro Guido, among others – haven’t yet broken out. And their position, or non-inclusion, in the 24 Under 24 top-five list of young players south of the border is a natural reflection of that. www.mlssoccer.com/24under24/news/article/2013/09/25/ranking-top-five-young-american-prospects-south-border

American Exports: As many as eight Yanks could feature in Puebla-Club Tijuana showdownGUADALAJARA, Mexico – If there is a game not to miss for US national team fans in Mexico this weekend, it is undoubtedly Sunday’s matchup between Puebla and Club Tijuana, with the prospect of up to eight Americans featuring (1 pm ET, ESPN Deportes, Azteca America). For Puebla, DaMarcus Beasley is set to return after missing out last weekend through injury and Michael Orozco Fiscal should keep his place in the starting XI after a good performance against Tigres UANL last weekend. As for the visitors, Herculez Gomez – a hat-trick hero in his Tijuana debut on Thursday night in CCL play – and Alejandro Guido are back in the frame for minutes following injuries, while Joe Corona, Edgar Castillo, Greg Garza and Paul Arriola will all be hoping to start a game that is crucial for both sides. Clint Dempsey on Fulham loan: Stay fit for World Cup & help out a club that "felt like home"The Seattle Sounders' Clint Dempsey, who will start a two-month loan with his former club Fulham FC in January, says he's looking forward to rejoining the club where he made his name in the Premier League from 2007 to 2012, and hopes he can "help out in this situation." The "situation" is that Fulham are currently in the EPL relegation zone, sitting in 19th place in the standings with just 13 points from 17 matches played. They recently replaced manager Martin Jol with longtime Manchester United assistant Rene Meulensteen. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/12/24/clint-dempsey-fulham-loan-stay-fit-world-cup-help-out-club-feels-home

American Exports: Brek Shea makes "fantastic" debut for D2 BarnsleyAMSTERDAM -- Newly acquired loanee Brek Shea barely made it onto the team sheet for Barnsley but made an encouraging debut in a 1-1 draw at Birmingham City on Wednesday. The US international, who joined the Championship side on a 28-day loan from Stoke City earlier in the day, started and went 75 minutes on the day. Wearing the #33 jersey, he showed some of the menace he's been known for in the past, put two of four shots on frame, drawing a good save just past the half hour, and curling in a cross that deserved a better finish just before the halftime break. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/01/01/american-exports-brek-shea-makes-fantastic-debut-barnsley

Bob Bradley officially named head coach at Norwegian first-division club StabækAMSTERDAM – Former US national team boss Bob Bradley was officially introduced as the new manager of newly promoted Norwegian Tippeligaen club Stabæk on Friday morning at Nadderud Stadion. Bradley, 55, becomes the first American head coach of a European top-flight club and the first American at any professional level in Norway's history. The move to Stabæk comes just weeks after parting ways with the Egyptian national team following elimination from 2014 World Cup qualifying. After Egypt's fate became clear, Bradley was heavily linked to the Vancouver Whitecaps' head coaching vacancy and was reportedly also on the radar of English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion. The news of contract negotiations with Stabæk emerged last month. At Stabæk, Bradley takes over a club with a rich history that has fallen on hard times. De Blaa, The Blue Ones, have won theTippeligaen crown once, in 2008, and the Norwegian Cup once, in 1998, but were relegated after the 2012 season after finishing in 16th place. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/01/02/reports-bob-bradley-set-take-head-coaching-post-norwegian-club-stabaek
