JELD-WEN Field to host 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, marking a Cascadia firstNEW YORK – Get ready for a new chapter in the history of the MLS All-Star Game, this time with a Cascadia twist. Major League Soccer announced Wednesday that Portland’s JELD-WEN Field will be the site of the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game, bringing the league’s midsummer showcase to the frenzied Pacific Northwest for the first time in the game’s history. “The Portland Timbers and their passionate fans have certainly earned the honor of hosting the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement. “This match will showcase to an international audience the incredible devotion to the game in the Pacific Northwest that serves as one of the most important stories for our league.” The Timbers have sold out every MLS league match to date at JELD-WEN Field since their league debut in 2011, currently a string of 42 consecutive sellouts. The stadium also hosted a sellout crowd for the US national team’s opening match in the CONACAF Gold Cup on Tuesday night, the first time the USMNT has played in the Rose City since 1998. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/07/10/jeld-wen-field-host-2014-att-mls-all-star-game-marking-cascadia-first

The 14-time MLS All-Star came back to haunt the club that jettisoned him after just a few months of a failed 2009 loan appearance with the game-winning goal Wednesday for a 2-1 win over Bayern Munich in the 2014 AT&T MLS All-Star Game. The 70th-minute strike came after Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski and All-Star Bradley Wright-Phillips traded goals on opposite ends of halftime, highlighting a match in which MLS gave the German giants all that they could handle – and more – on a warm evening at Providence Park. matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2014-08-06-mls-all-star-team-vs-fc-bayern-munich/recap
