Timbers acquire midfielder Ben Zemanski from Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money, right of first refusal to Jonathan Bornstein
Three-year MLS veteran played in 72 regular season matches with two goals, seven assists PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Timbers today announced that the club has acquired midfielder Ben Zemanski from Chivas USA in exchange for allocation money and the right of first refusal to defender Jonathan Bornstein. Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. A veteran of three MLS seasons, Zemanski, 24, played in 72 regular-season matches, recording two goals and seven assists with Chivas USA from 2010-12. He was selected by Chivas USA in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft after a notable collegiate career at the University of Akron, where he played under Timbers head coach Caleb Porter. Portland Timbers add former EPL, Ligue 1 striker Frederic Piquionne The Portland Timbers announced on Thursday that the club has signed forward Frédéric Piquionne to a one-year contract. He will be added to the roster pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and a P-1 visa, and will occupy an international slot on the Timbers roster. Piquionne, 34, joins the Timbers after playing the last three seasons in England, including two seasons in the Premier League with Portsmouth (2009-10) and West Ham United (2010-11).
