Galaxy reportedly ink Tottenham's CudiciniOn the final day of 2012 there’s news that the best team in MLS could be on the brink of getting a whole lot better in 2013. The reports coming out of both England and Italy this morning indicate that Carlo Cudicini, the veteran Tottenham goalkeeper who has been linked with a move to the LA Galaxy in recent weeks, has signed a two-year deal to join the club for next season. Sky Sports Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio tweeted out the news early this morning with this update in Italian, but there is no confirmation from the Galaxy. There’s also news on the Frank Lampard front, with Kevin Baxter of the Los Angeles Times reporting that the Galaxy and the Chelsea icon are deep in talks about a deal for 2013. Lampard’s current deal with the Blues runs out next summer and despite scoring both Chelsea goals of a 2-1 win over Everton on Sunday, Lampard insisted there is no new progress on a deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge beyond next season. "We haven't been talking about a new contract in the last couple of weeks," Lampard said Sunday. “At the moment nothing has been said and my contract is up in the summer." www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/12/31/kick-galaxy-reportedly-ink-tottenhams-cudicini

LA Galaxy ink Omar Gonzalez to historic multi-year Designated Player contractThe LA Galaxy made some history and secured a huge piece of their future on Thursday, signing defender Omar Gonzalez to a new multi-year contract that both keeps him in Los Angeles for the near future and makes him the first American defender to sign a Designated Player contract in league history. Gonzalez, 24, has emerged as one the best central defenders in MLS since his rookie season in 2009, anchoring the Galaxy’s back line en route to two MLS Cups, and has a promising chance to feature for the US national team during the World Cup next summer in Brazil. “To be the first Galaxy and US defender to be named as a Designated Player is a great honor for me,” Gonzalez said in a statement. “The Galaxy are the premier club in MLS and I’m looking forward to growing as a professional in LA while working towards winning a third consecutive MLS Cup.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/15/la-galaxy-ink-omar-gonzalez-historic-multi-year-designated-player-contract

Landon Donovan's desire to stay with LA Galaxy makes lucrative renewal a no-brainerCARSON, Calif. – Once the LA Galaxy and Landon Donovan started talking in earnest, it didn't take much time to reach an agreement on the multiyear contract that was announced Wednesday. Donovan, 31, had options in Europe and in Mexico, but he always wanted to stay with the Galaxy, and they made that simple for him. “I never made decisions for money, and I think I'm a much happier person because of it,” Donovan said after his news conference Wednesday afternoon at the StubHub Center. “At the same time, you do want to be valued and respected, so it was important for me in this process to be treated fair financially. “The Galaxy made it clear early on that they wanted a type of deal that would give me the opportunity to be the highest-paid player in the league, if I perform well. I think that was important to me, and I think that was fair, so we came to a good agreement.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/08/28/landon-donovans-desire-stay-la-galaxy-makes-lucrative-renewal-no-brainer
