Feeling green in Montreal: Stade Saputo field almost set ahead of opener
15,000 tickets already sold for Saturday's game against Columbus MONTREAL – Thirty-seven 10-wheel trucks full of snow and ice: this is what the Montreal Impact and the Columbus Crew would have played on, had their game scheduled for this Saturday afternoon kicked off last month. The Montreal winter doesn’t seem to know when to let go, but it looks like it is going to cut the Impact some slack. The game will indeed go on in five days’ time at Stade Saputo. The arena’s grass is “75, 80 percent green right now, but was 100 percent white 12 days ago,” pointed out Impact vice-president Richard Legendre. www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2013/04/feeling-green-montreal-stade-saputo-field-almost-set-ahead-openerwww.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=UyGSjArAm3o

Match report: Impact falls 2-0 to Crew in Columbus Impact now returns home to take on Dynamo on Wednesday COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Montreal Impact fell 2-0 to the Columbus Crew on Saturday night, marking its first loss in its last four regular season games. The Crew scored the game’s first goal in the 6th minute when a foul on Dominic Oduro was played on near the top of the box as the ball found Matias Sanchez. The midfielder fired a low, right-footed shot that deflected off of Jeb Brovsky’s extended leg and changed directions, beating Impact goalkeeper Troy Perkins to his left. Oduro then stole the ball in midfield and exploded through the Impact’s defenders in the 22nd minute, before putting a low shot past Perkins to his left from just near the top of the 18 box. The Impact dominated possession in this one with 57.2%, but was shutout for just the second time this season in 13 games. With an injury to midfielder Andres Romero, Brazilian Felipe slid into the Argentinean’s role on the left flank, and Collen Warner took Felipe’s central role for this matchup. www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2013/06/match-report-montreal-impact-falls-2-0-crew-columbus
