Recap: 'Caps, Sounders tie 2-2 tie in wild Cascadia openerVANCOUVER, B.C. – The Cascadia Cup rivalry matches in 2012 promise to offer plenty of drama if the opening match is any indication. Seattle's Fredy Montero scored a 90th minute equalizer as the Seattle Sounders came back twice to tie the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-2 at BC Place on Saturday in a wild first match of the 2012 Cascadia rivalry series. Vancouver looked set for the win after Camilo scored with a free kick that found a way through a crowded penalty area and surprised Seattle netminder Bryan Meredith for the late 2-1 lead in the 82nd minute. Whitecaps left back Alain Rochat opened the scoring with a marauding run down the left in the 12th minute. Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, Vancouver saw their lead disappear on Eddie Johnson's equalizing header early in the second half. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/05/19/recap-caps-sounders-tie-2-2-tie-wild-cascadia-opener

Whitecaps FC head to Toronto for Amway Canadian Championship decider
'Caps and Toronto FC level at 1-1 on aggregate Looking to win their first-ever Voyageurs Cup title, Vancouver Whitecaps FC (2W-0L-1D in ACC) visit three-time defending champions and Major League Soccer rivals Toronto FC (1W-0L-2D in ACC) in the decisive second leg of the 2012 Amway Canadian Championship (ACC) final on Wednesday evening. Just like last year’s Canadian Championship finale, Whitecaps FC travel to Toronto’s BMO Field looking for a positive result after a 1-1 first-leg draw on Bell Pitch at BC Place last week. With The Reds holding a slight advantage after scoring an ‘Away Goal’ in Vancouver, the ‘Caps will look for their first win at BMO Field since Canada Day (July 1) 2008. They meet a TFC side who will be keen to win a fourth-straight Voyageurs Cup title after a challenging start to their 2012 MLS campaign. www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2012/05/whitecaps-fc-head-toronto-amway-canadian-championship-decider

What we learned vs. Portland Timbers The legend talks about where we're at, our fans, and Ousted Our boys came away with a hard-earned point Saturday against Portland in what was a physical game. After suffering an early second-half goal, Vancouver Whitecaps FC battled back to claim a 1-1 draw. In the last couple of games, the ‘Caps have shown they can compete as one of Major League Soccer’s top teams. I know a loss and a draw aren’t exactly glamorous results, but if you look at the performances it’s not hard to see Martin Rennie’s boys competing for the number one position overall. Against Philadelphia, we played with 10 men for more than 80 minutes and dominated the game. The way we played should have got us three points. This weekend’s game against the Timbers was another test that we passed with flying colors. www.whitecapsfc.com/news/2013/08/what-we-learned-vs-portland-timbers
