Braun's goal gives Impact 1-0 win over Estudiantes Tecos Montreal show signs of progress in preseason's second friendly GUADALAJARA, Mexico – So far, so good in 2012 for the Montreal Impact. The Canadian club has yet to concede in two preseason games and came away with a well-earned 1-0 victory against Estudiantes Tecos on Tuesday thanks to a nicely taken 63rd-minute goal from Justin Braun. With the game knotted at 0-0, Josh Gardner launched an excellently measured ball over the defense, which Braun latched onto, lobbing the ball first time over the sprawling goalkeeper from 25 yards. It marked the first goal of Montreal's preseason. “[Gardner] put the ball right where it needed to be and I was able to finish it,” Braun explained to MLSsoccer.com after the game. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/01/24/brauns-goal-gives-impact-1-0-win-over-estudiantes-tecos

Impact close Mexico camp with 1-1 tie against Atlas Nyassi scores for Montreal as club goes undefeated in tripGUADALAJARA, Mexico – The Montreal Impact closed out their preseason friendlies down south with a 1-1 tie against Mexican Primera División side Atlas in 82-degree weather on Thursday. Sanna Nyassi got the goal for the Impact in the 57th minute, striking a right-footed shot into the bottom left corner from just inside the penalty area after playing a neat one-two with striker Eduardo Sebrango. Atlas tied the game in bizarre circumstances three minutes later, when Impact goalkeeper Evan Bush was fed a slightly underhit backpass, which he tried to punt upfield only for it to rebound off a charging Atlas striker and into the net. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/01/26/impact-close-mexico-camp-1-1-tie-against-atlas

Physical conditioning essential in training camp Adam Rotchstein plays critical role in team's preparationA soccer team’s physical training is a critical component when preparing for a long, 10-month season. Even more so for the Impact, an expansion side in Major League Soccer, where the players come in from all different locations with all different levels of conditioning. www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpOFyN8fmQI&feature=player_embeddedTherefore, the Impact’s physical conditioning coach, Adam Rotchstein, must ensure that the players all end up on the same page physically. “We’ve played some 30 and 40-minute periods in Mexico,” said the former Chivas physical preparation coach. “Going into Los Angeles, players will play 45 to 60 minutes, and eventually a full 90-minute game.” www.impactmontreal.com/en/news/2012/01/physical-conditioning-essential-training-camp

Montreal roster holding steady ahead of California tripAgourram was released after the camp in Mexico, but Marsch believes there could be a spot for him on the roster sometime in the future. “Agourram did OK down in Mexico, but with his age and experience, we felt the most important thing for him right now is to get games,” Marsch explained. “We’re trying to maintain links with different clubs in the NASL, so we hope to continue a relationship with Reda so he can play in the second division, establish himself within a team and we could evaluate how he’d fit with us a year from now.” While the club doesn’t seem in much of a hurry to add players, Marsch did admit to making an offer for former Philadelphia Union striker Sébastien Le Toux, who was instead dealt to Vancouver. The British Columbia club simply made a better offer, according to the Montreal gaffer. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/02/01/impact-roster-holding-steady-ahead-california-trip
