Impact select Ching, future unclear Dynamo captain has said he would rather retire than leave the club The Montreal Impact stunned Major League Soccer by selecting Dynamo captain Brian Ching in Wednesday's Expansion Draft, casting doubt on Ching's future. A fixture in the Houston lineup since moving with the club from San Jose prior to the 2006 season, Ching is the club's all-time leading scorer and wore the captain's armband for head coach Dominic Kinnear over the last two seasons. Limited significantly by injuries in 2011 and due a significant salary in 2012, Ching was left unprotected by the Dynamo when lists were announced on Monday www.houstondynamo.com/news/2011/11/impact-select-ching-future-unclear

Long-awaited deal sends Dynamo hero Ching back homeThe Cold War standoff between the Houston Dynamo and Montreal Impact has come to a resolution. The clubs announced on Thursday that they have reached an agreement for the Dynamo to reacquire franchise hero Brian Ching in return for a conditional first-round pick in the 2013 SuperDraft, bringing the star striker back to the team that left the door wide open for his departure nearly four months ago. Ching is expected to join the Dynamo at training on Thursday morning. “I am very happy to have Brian back with the team,” Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear said in a statement. “This is a very important year for the Dynamo, and if anyone deserves to be involved with the team, it’s Brian.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/02/16/long-awaited-deal-sends-dynamo-hero-ching-back-home

Dynamo veteran Ching will return for 12th MLS seasonAfter a month of soul searching, Brian Ching has decided that he will be back in Houston Dynamo orange in 2013. Ching told MLSsoccer.com on Tuesday that he's spent the time since Houston's loss in the MLS Cup earlier this month deciding if he still wanted to play the game after 11 seasons in the league. “I needed to step away for a bit and make sure that I still love it and have a passion for it,” Ching told MLSsoccer.com by phone. “Looking back and seeing how the season went and how I held up, I still feel like I can contribute.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/12/31/dynamo-veteran-ching-will-return-12th-mls-season

Into the sunset: Houston Dynamo legend Brian Ching announces plans to retire at season's end Houston Dynamo striker Brian Ching officially announced his intentions to retire at the end of the 2013 season in a press conference at BBVA Compass Stadium on Tuesday, signaling the close of a long, fruitful career with the Dynamo (and their previous incarnation as the San Jose Earthquakes) as well as the US national team. Citing the increasing pain and soreness from the physical grind of his 12th MLS season, and 13th pro season overall, Ching will hang up his cleats at season's end and take up a front-office position with the club he helped build since its relocation to Houston ahead of the 2006 season. With 56 regular-season goals for the Orange, Ching is the Dynamo's all-time leading scorer and his 82 career goals place him in a tie for 11th on the all-time MLS scoring chart. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/09/24/sunset-houston-dynamo-legend-brian-ching-announces-plans-retire-seasons-end
