Galaxy sign Ireland international forward Robbie Keane Former Tottenham striker will join LA as a Designated Player When the LA Galaxy acquire new weapons, they always go for the big guns. On Monday, the MLS-leading Galaxy officially announced that they had come to terms with Irish international Robbie Keane, the 10th all-time leading scorer in English Premier League history. He arrives on a transfer from EPL side Tottenham Hotspur. Keane, who will join the club’s roster upon receipt of his visa paperwork, will be a Designated Player, meaning that the Galaxy will have to get rid of one of their current DPs: Landon Donovan, David Beckham or Juan Pablo Ángel. There are reports that Ángel, the former New York Red Bulls star, will be moved in a trade at some point this week, with Chivas USA and the Philadelphia Union being mentioned as possible destinations. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/08/15/galaxy-sign-ireland-international-forward-robbie-keane

Report: Keane foregoes Euro loan, signs extension with LANo one can argue that Robbie Keane is committed to the LA Galaxy. The Republic of Ireland international told Sky Sports that he will be passing on European loan offers to take a break and heal ahead of the start to the 2013 MLS season. He spent the early weeks of the 2012 season on loan with Aston Villa. "It's been a long season, with the Euros and what have you," Keane told Sky Sports' Fantasy Football Show. "I've a few little niggles that need to be sorted out so I don't think at this moment in time it would be right for me to go anywhere." More importantly, he also revealed that he'll be a Galaxy player for several seasons to come, signing a two-year contract extension. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2013/01/05/report-keane-foregoes-euro-loan-signs-extension-la

"I am very, very happy, very content where I am in this situation in my life. If you keep playing and keep producing and keep scoring goals, it doesn't really matter where you are. "I couldn't tell you if it is the best move of my career to be honest with you. At that moment in time, it was the right decision for me and the family, and I certainly don't have any regrets. "I have just signed a two-year contract, possibly three years, so at this moment in time, I'm not thinking too far ahead. At the moment, I am very, very happy and I will just keep playing and keep plugging away." Keane joined LA Galaxy in 2011 and has been prolific in the MLS since his move. In the 55 appearances he's made for the club, he has scored 31 goals. But with his career coming to an end, the striker has admitted that going into management is something he's interesting in when he eventually retires. "I am doing my coaching badges in December - but I am going to try to play as long as I can first," he said. "When you get older, you tend to analyse whereas when you are younger, you have got no worries, you just think it's never, ever going to end. "As you get older, you understand the game a lot more and you watch the mangers closely, like Marco (Tardelli), the manager, and see their see their different ideas. "I have been lucky enough to play for one of the great managers, so hopefully that will stand me in good stead." www.reddit.com/tb/1haq5n

On the Mend Robbie Keane returns to training and hopes to return to action next weekCARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy have had to make do without their captain Robbie Keane for the past two matches, but once their MLS schedule resumes, they hope to have Irish forward back in the lineup. Since suffering a left hip flexor strain in the second half of LA’s 2-1 defeat to the Portland Timbers on July 13, Keane has been unavailable, but made his return to the training ground this week. The Irish forward hasn’t begun full training just yet, but took part briefly in Tuesday’s session. Although appearing in this week’s Guinness International Championship Cup matches seems like a no go for Keane, he’s got his sights on being ready for next Sunday’s match against FC Dallas. www.lagalaxy.com/blog/beat/2013/07/30/back-training-robbie-keane-sets-sights-returning-against-fc-dallas

LA Galaxy's Robbie Keane returns to training after rehabbing from two Achilles' surgeriesCARSON, Calif. – Robbie Keane is back on the field with the LA Galaxy after spending nearly all of the first three weeks in preseason camp wrapping up his rehabilitation following offseason surgeries on both Achilles' injuries. He won't travel north to Fresno for Saturday's friendly with California Clasico rivals San Jose, but expects to see action when the Galaxy face UCLA on Wednesday and the White-Blue game against the club's USL PRO side the following weekend at StubHub Center. “It's nice to be back 100 percent and feel like I was 10 years ago,” said Keane, who trained the past week with Galaxy II and played 30 minutes in the USL team's intrasquad game last weekend. “Everything's gone good so far. I feel great. It's nice to wake up in the morning without any pain, and it's just nice to come out training and train at the very start without having any pain.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2014/02/13/la-galaxys-robbie-keane-returns-training-after-rehabbing-two-achilles-surger
