DC's De Rosario named MLS Player of the Month
Veteran scores three, assists two for Black-and-Red in August NEW YORK — After collecting two MLS Player of the Week awards last month, it was perhaps no surprise that Dwayne De Rosario was voted the league's best MLS player for August. The D.C. United attacker was named MLS Player of the Month by the North American Soccer Reporters on Thursday. It's the second time in his career he's won the award after first earning the nod in October of 2005. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/09/01/dcs-de-rosario-named-mls-player-month

Talking Tactics: Tracing the evolution of De Rosario's game
Canadian's talent has never changed but his offensive role hasDwayne De Rosario has always done his part. Despite periodic dips in form here and there over 11 remarkable seasons, his talent has never waned. A coach's job, then, is always to get the best from DeRo, to carefully arrange things for success. This is all tactically topical, of course, because of De Rosario’s extraordinary week, culminating in his three-goal, one-assist assault on helpless Real Salt Lake this past Saturday. The habitual question with De Rosario is always about his optimum tactical deployment: Is he a forward, or better when stationed further back, picking up balls earlier, assisting with possession and running at defenders at higher speeds? It’s really no different than long-standing conversations about Landon Donovan, and the debate traces back as far www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/09/27/talking-tactics-tracing-evolution-de-rosarios-game

DCU want to extend De Rosario's contract United mull ways to extend DeRo's deal, exploring Davies options WASHINGTON – While one game remains in D.C. United's 2011 campaign, big decisions lay ahead for the franchise's looming offseason. The future of midfielder Dwayne De Rosario and forward Charlie Davies are two of the biggest decisions confronting D.C.'s front office. De Rosario has one year left – a club-held option – on his current contract, although United plan on trying to offer him a longer deal. "We'll sit down in the coming weeks with Dwayne and his representative and our goal is to negotiate an extension," general manager Dave Kasper told reporters at training on Friday. Since joining D.C. at the end of June, De Rosario has scored 13 goals and added seven assists. The Canadian international remains focused on Saturday's final game against Sporting Kansas City, but admitted to the importance of securing something more permanent. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/10/21/dc-want-extend-de-rosarios-contract

DC Notebook: De Rosario extension a priority for UnitedWASHINGTON – D.C. United have had plenty to do this offseason in terms of rebuilding and reloading for a new year. But sitting at the top of the list is re-signing last year’s MLS MVP Dwayne De Rosario to a contract extension, a goal that has been verbalized but remains uncompleted. “That’s been our highest priority,” president and CEO Kevin Payne told reporters at a press conference on Monday. “We’ve been working hard on that. It’s been a very collegial process. Dwayne’s been very professional about it. For the most part, he lets his representation handle those conversations.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/02/06/dc-notebook-de-rosario-extension-priority-united

Kick Off: DeRo demands DC step it up tonight on NBCSND.C. United say the 0-0 draw in Vancouver last weekend was a step in the right direction but “now we want results,” says veteran defender Robbie Russell. The chance to get the first win of the season comes tonight on the NBC Sports Network as United host FC Dallas (7:30 p.m. ET). Captain Dwayne De Rosario says his club has to “step it up a little more at home,” where they have collected just five points in the last six league games played at RFK Stadium. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/03/30/kick-dero-demands-dc-step-it-tonight-nbcsn

DeRo: No goals, no problem"The most important thing is we have other guys stepping up and scoring."[/B] Through eight matches this season, only four players across Major League Soccer have taken more shots than D.C. United's Dwayne De Rosario. Yet for all of his 26 attempts thus far in 2012, the reigning league MVP is still scoreless. It is a situation that would frustrate most players accustomed to piling up stats as DeRo has over his MLS career, but the Black-and-Red captain couldn't - frankly - care less. "I don't need to score," De Rosario said matter-of-factly after D.C.'s training session on Tuesday. "Everybody else is scoring and we are winning. My goals will come. The most important thing is we have other guys stepping up and scoring." www.dcunited.com/news/2012/04/no-goals-no-problem

De Rosario two goals shy of century mark for MLS careerWASHINGTON – Don’t look now, but the 100-goal club in MLS is about to get a new member. Canadian international Dwayne De Rosario, who has traveled far since his days with FSV Zwickau in Germany and the Richmond Kickers in the old A-League, is just two goals short of becoming the seventh MLS player with 100 career goals in the regular season. With two more goals, De Rosario would be the first player to reach the plateau since Landon Donovan hit the century mark back in 2010. With Donovan, De Rosario would join the likes of Jeff Cunningham, Jaime Moreno, Ante Razov, Jason Kreis and Taylor Twellman as the only MLS players to notch 100 goals during regular-season play. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/05/25/de-rosario-two-goals-shy-century-mark-mls-career
