DEFENDER ZURAB TSISKARIDZE RETURNS HOMEMONTREAL – The Montreal Impact announced Tuesday that American defender, originally from Georgia, decided to return home in Washington due to family reasons. “Due to family issues, I feel that I should be home. I’m not here mentally right now,” said Zurab Tsiskaridze. “I think it would not be fair for my teammates who work hard, if I stay here. I don’t want to bring negative energy and not be focused on the task. It’s tough for me to leave, but it’s even tougher not to be with my family. I thank the whole organization and I wish the best of luck to the team.” www.montrealimpact.com/News/News.aspx?language=EN&ArticleID=1690&Focus=0

Montreal miss out on NASL playoffs, turn focus to MLS
2012 MLS expansion club already preparing for October camp MONTREAL - The Montreal Impact won their very last game in the second division on Saturday night, beating the Atlanta Silverbacks 4-0 on the road, but all hopes of making the playoffs disappeared when the Minnesota Stars won in Carolina to take over the sixth and final spot. Portland Timbers loanee Ryan Pore (pictured above) netted a hat-trick for Montreal, while Miguel Montaño, on loan from the Seattle Sounders, scored the other goal. The team finished the NASL season in seventh place, with a record of nine wins, eight ties and 11 losses, but will rue a slow start to the season that saw them win only two out of 14 games. The arrival on loan of Pore and Montaño as well the signing of ex-New York Red Bulls midfielder Sinisa Ubiparipovic improved the team in the second part of the season, in which they won seven, tied four and lost three. Ubiparipovic played a central role in the team’s revival and showed flashes of brilliance that had been lacking in the Montreal midfield. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/09/25/montreal-miss-out-nasl-playoffs-turn-focus-mls

Montreal move one step closer to first MLS campaign
Impact executives travel to LA for league meetings, ready for 2012OS ANGELES — The final whistle of the MLS Cup on Sunday night brought the Montreal Impact one step closer to playing in North America’s top division. Once the confetti was blown off the field and the lights were turned off at the Home Depot Center, it was time to turn the soccer world's attention from Southern California to Montreal. Several executives of the club were in LA throughout the week to attend league meetings with topics ranging from club administration to marketing and ticket sales. Executive vice president Richard Legendre led many of Montreal’s discussions this week. “It was heartwarming to see our new logo on one of the flags here,” admitted the club executive. “What I like about these meetings is that we can have open discussions with the other clubs, and everyone here has been very open to share opinions and ideas.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/11/21/montreal-move-one-step-closer-first-mls-campaign
