Pool to gather on Jan. 4 ahead of friendly vs. Chile on Jan. 22US national team’s January camp will have a decidedly MLS-heavy look. Twenty MLSers were named to the 24-man roster called up by Bob Bradley, including New York Red Bulls striker Juan Agudelo, San Jose forward Chris Wondolowski, and Sporting KC’s Teal Bunbury, in preparation for a friendly against Chile on January 22 at The Home Depot Center. The roster is young, with an average age just over 23. Half of the players have a chance to debut for the national team, and no player has more than four caps. “The timing is right to assess many of the younger players and to broaden the player pool as we look forward to the next three years,” Bradley said in a statement. “These extended camps give the coaching staff an opportunity to work with these players closely, and at the same time expose them to what the environment and expectations are like at the international level.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/breaking-down-usmnt-call-ups

Bradley adds Starikov to January campUkraine-born striker receives first-ever call-upLast month, when Bob Bradley released the list of 24 players who would participate in the United States national team's three-week training camp, the name Eugene Starikov was nowhere to be found despite the 22-year-old's strong showing while on loan to Tom Tomsk. Starikov, however, received a belated invite, joining the group in Carson, Calif., on Thursday. He will participate in the rest of the proceedings and be available for the friendly against Chile on Jan. 22. The Ukranian-born, Florida-bred attacker left Stetson University during his sophomore season to become a member at Zenit St. Petersburg, a club where his father has connections. He spent the 2009 Russian Premier League campaign with the squad's youth side, scoring six goals in 22 matches. The 5-foot-8 player landed a spot substitute role for the RPL champions before going on loan to Tomsk where he played in nine matches, scoring one goal. www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/bradley-adds-starikov-january-camp
