Coaching carousel spins in Canada Marsch the frontrunner in MontrealOh la la! The rumors are flying (presumably on Air Canada) about whose name will come up when the Montreal Impact name their first MLS coach on Wednesday. The frontrunner, according to The Washington Post’s Steven Goff, is former Chivas USA and Chicago Fire star Jesse Marsch, who is reportedly a friend of Matt Jordan, the former MLS goalkeeper who is now director of soccer operations for the Impact. This Radio Canada report (FRENCH) mentions several other candidates for the Impact job, including Columbus TD Brian Bliss and Puerto Rico Islanders coach Colin Clarke. But the report’s top choice is Colorado technical director Paul Bravo, something the Rapids categorically deny www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/08/09/kick-coaching-carousel-spins-canada

New Impact head coach Jesse Marsch hard at work preparing for MLS debutMarsch’s priority has been finding players who will form the team’s inaugural MLS roster. “We’re already down the road with a number of guys. There will be some announcements coming. “We don’t want to announce everybody, because it’s important not to show all our cards before the league’s expansion draft. The Impact will be front and centre at the MSL Expansion Draft on Nov. 22, two days after the MLS Cup final is played in Carson, Calif. The Impact will be allowed to pick a total of 10 players from unprotected lists of the 18 other MLS teams. Each of those teams can protect a maximum of 11 players. Homegrown players – those who live or train in an MLS team’s territory for at least one season – those in the Generation Adidas youth development program in the U.S., and designated players with no-trade clauses cannot be selected The Impact will also pick first at the 2012 MLS Super Draft in early January, and shortly after that will continue to fill roster spots at the MSL Supplemental Draft No Impact players have contracts for 2012, and all current contracts will expire by the end of October. The Impact can keep as many players as it wants from its current lineup going into MLS, and also has the right to negotiate with one player currently playing in the NASL or the U.S.-based United Soccer Leagues Read more: www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Impact+head+coach+Jesse+Marsch+hard+work+preparing+debut/5397111/story.html#ixzz1ZTBl6gQt

Marsch returns from South America with open mind
Montreal coach keeping options open ahead of expansion draftMONTREAL - With a little less than a week remaining before the start of the Expansion Draft, Montreal head coach Jesse Marsch told MLSsoccer.com what his plans are for next week’s first major step toward building the Impact's roster. We watched them a bit more closely this time,” Marsch told MLSsoccer.com. “We evaluated different scenarios to see how they could fit into the team’s strategy. We also analyzed the financial aspect of bringing one or many players from South America.” The gaffer explained that the Montreal faithful should not expect any news before the expansion draft scheduled on Nov. 23. “We want to keep all the doors opened,” he said. “That being said, we’re still looking for offensive-minded players.” “We need players with a strong MLS background and experience,” Marsch said. “There are a lot of players on our radar. Although we have a good sense of what to expect next week, we want to have as many options as possible. It’s important to keep an open mind.” www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2011/11/16/marsch-returns-south-america-open-mind

Jesse Marsch and Montreal Impact part waysThe Montreal Impact and manager Jesse Marsch announced on Saturday morning that they have parted ways. "I'm leaving the club by mutual agreement," Marsch announced during a press conference alongside owner Joey Saputo and sporting director Nick de Santis. "It's not easy with the relationships that we've built, but for me it's the right decision. "Although we have the same goals, we did not share the same philosophy," continued Marsch. And his comments were echoed by Saputo. "This is an amicable parting of ways, for the better of the club," Saputo said. "While we had the same long-term objective for this organization, we realized we did not share the same view on how to get there." www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/11/03/breaking-jesse-marsch-parts-ways-montreal-impact
